![]() Field Hospital- Vietnam War Picture Description Surgeons and medical support staff work in a variety of facilities and aid stations. This particular surgical operation was conducted in a permanent underground bunker aid station which supported the medical advisors and military personnel in the field. Most aid stations would not normally be so permanent in nature and would more likely be tent based structures. An aid station would usually be staffed by a single surgeon and support staff. In this case, the surgeon is removing shrapnel from the patient who would then be stabilised and either be sent back to his unit or to a general hospital for further treatment. |
