As a crucial element of US Advisory Team operations during the Vietnam War, creating medical dispensary centers within remote villages was a primary objective.Most of the villages were only accessible by helicopter and would be visited regularly by a team of US medical personnel.  Each team would be comprised of three to four specialists that would provide critical medical treatment to villagers and also  supplies to be used in their absence.  A team's area of responsibility may encompass up to 40 such villages.This particular image was captured in a village 30 minutes flying time from Xuan Loc.  Faced with a wide range of patients, it was common for the medical teams to treat a full spectrum of diseases and infections from paediatric to geriatric patients.
