Love the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan. I first saw it in a digital THX cinema and that made all the difference. The audience was just stunned by the pace of the action and the realism of the footage. Just an amazing movie that I think will stand the test of time and become a classic war movie.

In terms of more recent war film release there's an interesting new film on the Vietnam War coming out on July 4th. It's called Rescue Dawn and is based on a documentary called Little Dieter Needs to Fly by Werner Herzog. Incidentally, Rescue Dawn is directed by Herzog as well. It should be pretty high profile...Christian Bale plays the lead. So far, it's recieved some good press. The soundtrack alone is amazing. It's by the same composer as Pirates of the Carribean and numerous other films. You can check out some clips on the label's website: milanrecords.com. But I think the soundtrack should be in stores by now. Anyway, was just wondering if anyone else had heard anything about this movie. I'm definitely planning on going to see it.
