| Taken from the open door of a Huey, this picture clearly depicts the layout of Vo Xu village. Defensive fortifications can be seen at the perimeter of the village with artillery emplacements situated in the interior. This image also gives us a good feel for the layout of a village with common area structures to the center and domiciles at the perimeter. In March of 1966 a major battle of the early part of the Vietnam Conflict took place in this very village, which saw intense combat between US Military Advisors/South Vietnamese soldiers and the Viet Cong/North Vietnamese Army. |
